Events at the Village
Spring has sprung and it is time to enjoy the outdoors and doing something for YOU! The Village is offering weekly yoga classes from a variety of local teachers from local studios. It is an opportunity to take an hour (or more if you do more than one class) and start to focus on your health, wellness and inner-being. And while taking a class, you will be raising money for a local charity too! Talk about a win-win! Cost for the classes is $10 (cash only please) and at least 10% will be donated to Charlotte's Wings for the month of May. Note: The children's classes are only $5. Classes are held in our Community Yoga Space at 142 N. Adams Rd (just north of Sleep Number by Select Comfort on Village Main).
The Food Trucks Are Coming!
The Food Trucks Are Coming! And this year there will be more nights, more options to eat and less options to be overwhelmed. They will be parking EVERY Monday on the west side of Whole Foods Market. They will be there each Monday from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm starting June 18th and their last night will be on August 28th. You won't have to plan Monday night dinner all summer! How awesome is that?
Here is the most exciting part! YOU get to choose who is coming and which non-profits will benefit. No, really! We will be doing a call out to food trucks that want to participate beginning in February and in March YOU the community get to vote on who you want to be a part of the Monday night options! There will be a minimum of 10 trucks and up to 20 for the entire season. How cool is that?
And then, we will be voting on the non-profits too. We will do a call out to non-profits that want to benefit from this event and again YOU, the community get to vote on who you want to benefit. We will be narrowing it down to ten non-profits as well.
If you know a food truck owner or a non-profit you think should be involved, email email@example.com and ask for an application. But hurry! All application must be in by February 28th!
What’s so great about food trucks, you may ask? I’m so glad you asked!
Here’s my Top Five Reasons Food Trucks Rock:
5. Outside > Inside: If you’re burned out on grilling, it’s a great option that gets you out of the hot kitchen and your family outside. Bring a blanket, have a picnic, make a fun night of it!
4. Variety is the Spice of Life: (along with Food Trucks) Family can’t decide on what to have for dinner? That’s the beauty of the food trucks. Each week a different one or two will be onsite. You don't have to make the decision.
3. The Joy of Discovery A wasabi dog? Why not? Unlike a restaurant with a 10-page menu, food trucks typically specialize on one specific thing. Enjoy that mastery and try something new! If someone has taken the time and effort to devote their food truck to hot dogs, like The Mean Weenie, you know that’s going to be one darn good dog.
2. Fast...It’s a scientific fact: although your clock says Monday has 24 hours like any other day, it’s the longest and slowest of the week! You’ve waited an eternity for it to be dinnertime, who wants to wait any longer to eat? Food truck = fast. Fast is good.
1. Doing Good One Meal at a Time These food trucks aren't just feeding our community, they are caring for it too. Each one of the trucks will donate to a specific non-profit and that’s something we can all feel good about.
Village of Rochester Hills Transforms Into Outdoor Art Gallery
The charming location of the Village of Rochester Hills shopping center will be transformed into an outdoor art gallery when it hosts the 14th Annual Summer Fine Art at the Village of Rochester Hills on Saturday, August 5 (10a-8p) and Sunday, August 6 (12-6p), 2017. More than 100 artists from across the United States have been invited to show their work at Summer Fine Art at the Village of Rochester Hills. An outside panel of experts juried the entries and asked artists with the highest scores to participate. Admission to the festival is free and parking is free. Check the Facebook Event page for details as the date gets closer.
Movie Madness brought to you by:
Fifth Annual Movie Madness is back! The Village of Rochester Hills and Cornerstone Community Financial will be bringing you three evenings of entertainment and fun for the whole family... and every movie we show is "family friendly." Mark your calendars for this years movie line up. Pack your cars with blankets, lawn chairs and maybe even some board games. Plan to grab dinner at your favorite restaurant in the Village and head to the Carson's parking lot to set up camp for the movie. People start to show up anytime after 7pm, but the movie cannot be shown until the sun goes down...which is normally about 9:15pm. We will be enjoying The Secret Life of Pets, Zootopia and SING this year. Popcorn provided by our friends at CCF! You never know what fun the CCF Team will have up their sleeves each month.
This year we are bringing you Ms Carissa of Carissa Rocks
to sing and entertain at 8:30pm-just as the little ones are getting antsy!

The Village of Rochester Hills is excited to once again bring back our music program for children and their caregivers. Every Wednesday, starting on July 12 and running until August 30, we will enjoy reading a book together, music (singing and dancing), an activity or craft with our friends and of course, friendship making! We start the day at 10am and are normally done by 11:30am, but we always have plenty of time for new friendships, hanging in the park to chat, picnics or having lunch at one of our great restaurants...and of course ice cream!
In her fifth year with our program, we welcome back Ms Jenna as she teaches music in the beautiful Festival Park. Her Mini Musicians program is well-known and popular in the community. Ms. Jenna will be teaching the dates that are BLUE.
We welcome back Ms Carissa, who rocked has rocked with us for three years now! We will be bringing her back for a few music Wednesdays Carissa Style. Come and jam with Ms Carissa and her pink guitar as she teaches and sings some crazy fun songs. Ms Carissa will be with us on the dates that are PINK.
We welcome dress-up and hope to make this a weekly event that you won't want to miss. Be sure to bring water and a blanket. It can get pretty sunny some days in the park.
Click on the date and it will take you right to the Facebook page for the event. Great way to learn and share!
July 26 Music from Around the World
It's that time of the year again...Spring is almost here! And the Village is looking for some great photos to be shared with us on our Facebook page. Share with the community and “dinner is on us” for three lucky families!
Every year the Village brings to you a free, unique opportunity to visit the Bunny with your family and friends...but we rarely get to see the photos. This year we are going to get selfish and ask you to share.
You can post about your experience, your favorite thing that happened while you were visiting or simply upload your photo (which is what we prefer!) If you post your photo on our Facebook page, in the comments section of each event date, you will have the opportunity to win dinner for four at Noodles and Company in the Village! It is that easy! So please share! You have three chances; Sunday, Friday or Saturday.
All photos and memoirs need to be posted by April 17, 2017 to be entered into the drawing.
